Penn State players honor injured teammates on senior day (Photo)

Though they cannot suit up due to injury, the numbers of Penn State seniors Ryan Keiser and Zach Zwinak will be worn Saturday afternoon for senior day at Beaver Stadium.

Junior cornerback Jordan Lucas will wear Keiser’s No. 23, while senior running back Bill Belton will wear Zwinak’s No. 28 when the 6-5 Nittany Lions host No. 10 Michigan State (9-2) at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Keiser, a safety who went from walk-on to team captain, fractured a rib during practice leading up to Penn State’s game against Ohio State on Oct. 25. That rib fracture led to a serious bowel injury that kept him in intensive care for weeks.

Zwinak, a fellow senior running back, broke his ankle on the opening kickoff of the Penn State-Ohio State game. He is 15th on Penn State’s career rushing list with 2,108 yards and is tied for tenth in school history with 11 100-yard rushing games.

Similarly in 2012, Penn State linebacker Gerald Hodges honored fellow senior linebacker Michael Mauti on Senior Day by wearing his No. 42. Additionally, the entire team wore No. 42 decals on their helmets to honor Mauti.

Both Keiser and Zwinak will be on hand to be honored along with 15 other PSU seniors before the game.
